Drone Trajectory Sim

First steps in aerial control: take off, trace a diagonal one step at a time, land.

Hflown: sequential movesideal: combined velocitytakeoffland

Overview

Before path planning comes basic motion control. This project connects to a simulated drone in PySimVerse, takes off to a set altitude, adjusts its speed, then repeats forward and rightward moves so the route approximates a diagonal before it lands.

Running the moves one after another rather than together makes the difference between sequential and combined motion easy to see, which is the point of the exercise. A separate script adds keyboard teleoperation.

How it works

  1. Connect

Initialise the simulated drone and take off to the target altitude.

  2. Tune

Set the speed for smooth, predictable moves.

  3. Trace

Loop forward and rightward moves to build a stair-step diagonal.

  4. Land

Bring the drone down safely once the route is complete.

What's next

  • True diagonal motion with velocity control
  • A* and RRT path planning
  • Obstacle avoidance and voxel-based 3D navigation
  • YOLO and SLAM integration
